Brand Strategy, Marketing & Web Design for Creative Small Businesses
You can be exceptionally good at what you do and still have a website you’ve outgrown, social media that happens in bursts, a Canva folder with six versions of your brand and a marketing list you never quite get to.
Cat Gerke Creative works with designers, creatives, founders, entrepreneurs and growing small businesses to bring the moving parts together — brand strategy, websites, social media, content, campaigns and ongoing marketing support — so the business you’re building is communicated as well as the work you’re doing.
Based in Byron Bay and working with businesses Australia-wide.
You probably don’t need a big agency. You need someone who can see how all the pieces fit together.
Strategy when you need direction.
Creative when you need it made.
Marketing when you need people to find it.
Your brand affects your website. Your website affects your marketing. Your content needs to support what you’re actually trying to sell. And none of it works particularly well when each part has been created by someone different, at a different time, without the bigger picture in mind. That’s where I come in. I work across strategy and execution, helping you work out what actually needs doing, what doesn’t, what should happen first and how to make it all feel like the same business.
BRAND STRATEGY + IDENTITYPositioning, messaging, visual identity and brand systems that make it clearer who you are, who you’re for and why someone should choose you.
MARKETING STRATEGYPractical marketing strategy for businesses that have plenty they could be doing and need clarity around what is actually worth doing. From one-off strategy through to ongoing fractional support.
WEBSITE DESIGNStrategic, beautifully considered Squarespace and Shopify websites designed around how your customers actually discover, understand and buy from your business.
SOCIAL MEDIA + CONTENTSocial strategy, content direction, copywriting, graphic design, Reels, campaigns & ongoing management — without turning your business into a content production studio.
I work with small businesses, emerging designers, creative studios, consultants, founders, entrepreneurs and leaders who are excellent at what they do but need help communicating it more clearly, consistently and commercially.
Many of my clients are creative-led or founder-led businesses where reputation has grown through good work, word of mouth and sheer determination — and the brand and marketing now need to catch up. You might be established and ready for the next chapter, building something new from scratch, repositioning an existing business or simply reaching the point where trying to do all the marketing yourself no longer makes sense.
You don’t need to arrive knowing exactly what you need. That’s part of my job.
MEET CAT
“I’ve spent my career inside creative businesses - just just marketing them from the outside”.
I’m a marketing strategist, creative director, brand builder, designer, artist and business owner, which means I tend to look at businesses from more than one angle. For more than a decade I’ve worked across the design and interiors industry, building brands, growing audiences, developing websites, launching products, creating content, producing campaigns, forming partnerships and figuring out how the creative side of a business translates into something commercially useful.
Today, I’m Director and co-owner of The Designory while also working directly with founders and small businesses through Cat Gerke Creative.
I know what it is like when the person responsible for the big idea is also answering emails, approving a website, finding something to post on Instagram and remembering that an EDM was supposed to go out yesterday. Most of my clients don’t need another person giving them a list of marketing jobs to do. They need someone capable of taking some of those jobs off the list.
WHY CLIENTS WORK WITH ME
There is always more marketing you could be doing.
Another platform. Another Reel. Another email. A website update. SEO. A launch. New photography. A lead magnet. A brand refresh. A newsletter someone told you should definitely be weekly.
The answer isn’t doing all of it.
My job is to look at the business, understand what you are trying to achieve and work out where your time and money will actually make a difference. Sometimes that means creating something new. Sometimes it means fixing what already exists. And occasionally it means telling you not to spend money on something you don’t need yet.
I bring together strategic thinking and creative execution so you’re not left with a beautiful strategy document and another 47 things to implement yourself. No unnecessary layers. No marketing for the sake of marketing. Just clearer thinking, stronger creative and work designed to support the business you’re actually trying to build.
